A common site on the streets of Jerusalem and all across Israel, people talking on their cell phones. From Galilee to the Dead Sea, people everywhere were busy talking into their palms as the walked, drove, even shepherded their flocks. Here it is early morning on one of the back streets in the Arab quarter. The baker has just put out some puffy disks of pita bread. The air is filled with the smell of Turkish coffee, cardamom, and baking bread. Graffiti in the background might be left over from the recent (January 25th) Palestinian election won by Hamas.
