It unfolds in front of you like a Biblical epic, merchants, Bedouin women, people on their way to prayer, the call of the muezzin in the background. Nothing much has changed in two thousand years. I've seen aerial photographs of this same market street taken decades ago, and most recently on the 1993 Frontline film, "Journey to Occupied Lands." It looks the same, with twisting streets, market stalls, crowds descending the steps from the Nablus Road.
