Once, during our travels, we were surrounded by an angry mob of Hutus. Two members of
our party lost their lives, a translator who was thought to be Tutsi, and a Rwandan doctor.
We made desperate radio calls to the UNHCR offices in Bukavu for help and UN soldiers
were sent to the airport to escort us to safety.
