Portrait artist, painter of murals, philosopher-apologist in oils, David Goatley uses his palate and brushes in the same manner that a writer might use his or her pen or typewriter. He has a story to tell, a truth to convey, an insight from life or his study of the Gospels to amplify.

What might consume the proverbial 1,000 words is found in the shades of color on his canvases. In his work, one encounters a deeper understanding of faith, renewal, and the relationship between humankind and a living Creator.

Of discovering his passion for painting, David writes,

"Epiphany! Light poured in, my soul took flight, and I had encountered why I was put here, and who to thank for it! Each portrait represents a fresh journey, a voyage of disclosure, as I am privileged to explore the uniqueness of others. A portrait affirms; it gives the gift of self to its subject. It says: 'yes, you are worth spending this time over, your story deserves to be told, you should be recorded for you will not pass this way again.' This has absolutely nothing to do with vanity and everything to do with the value of each and every one of us. There is still so much to learn, so many people to paint, so much room to grow. The mystery has never seemed richer, the journey more worthwhile."
