I Am
For You by Michelle Karam

A dear friend of mine gave me the idea
of a homeless man. She suggested that he be standing in a rundown part
of town, as it was there we once fed a man. For his eyes I used my husband’s,
as he so often sees the good in others, plus, through his eyes I experience
tremendous love. I remembered Rory Cooney’s song, “I Am For
You,” which happens to fit the painting perfectly. I struggled to
hear God tell me what to do next, only to remember, or to be told, that
I needed to rest, and he would tell me. I am still surprised by all of
the things God put into the picture, such as the stop and one-way signs,
as well as the shadowed underpass we must cross in our journey.
