Curse
Cursing
is more than speaking words that come to your mind when someone cuts you
off in traffic; it's more than the "hocus-pocus" of a Disney
movie. This world holds very real curses––including the curse
God placed on the earth when Adam and Eve first sinned (see Genesis 3:14).
The trade-off for following our own way: living in an imperfect world
outside God's friendship.
The Bible gives examples of people trying to invoke injury upon each other
and God. Yet no curse against God or those he protected ever went unpunished.
Individuals who cursed God or his name met with death.
Jesus Christ taught his followers to respond to their enemies' curses
by blessing them. Christ was cursed and accused of blasphemy, but he responded
with love. Christians should follow his example.
The
Lord curses those who disobey his law.
