Grumble
When was the last time you complained? Most of us don't have to think long to recall an incident. Complaining comes naturally to the human heart. No matter how good we have it, we think that things could always be better.

Ultimately, our complaints are directed at God, who orders all the events in our lives. Grumbling stems from lack of contentment with what God has given us and failure to believe God is working for our good, especially when circumstances bring us hardship.

The Israelites were notorious for their grumbling against God - actually, they grumbled to Moses, but God took it personally. "If only we had died by the Lord's hand in Egypt!" they said in the desert. "There we sat around pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted, but you have brought us out into this desert to starve this entire assembly to death" (Exodus 16:3).

The Bible warns us to guard against the sin of grumbling. There's never an appropriate time to grumble. Instead, we are to "give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for [us] in Christ Jesus" (1 Thessalonians 5:18).
