Justice Though there are laws to punish wrongdoers, sometimes justice can be bent or even broken. Throughout the Old and New Testaments, God makes it clear that he expects both government leaders and individual believers to pursue moral rightness in the workplace, in the court system and in all social relationships. There may not be perfect equity now, but someday the Lord will take his seat as judge and bring about complete justice for all. Each person will also experience the justice of God when God fairly judges our hearts and deeds against his perfect righteousness. Unfortunately, we are all sinners. Since we are not completely perfect, loving and good, we all deserve death. To uphold justice, God must give us what we deserve. We can be thankful to God that Jesus Christ took our justly deserved punishment by dying for us. But he did more than that: He restored us to a right relationship with God. Those who reject this gracious gift will one day face God's justice on their own merits, which will result in their condemnation. The
Lord is the only just, supreme ruler and judge, for he is God. |
