Mountain
In the Bible mountains were often considered holy places where God was
worshiped. After the Lord freed the Israelites from slavery in Egypt,
he brought them to Mount Sinai, where they first encountered God's full
magnificence. It was also on this mountain that God gave Moses the Ten
Commandments. On another high mountain, selected disciples saw Jesus Christ
in his heavenly form: his face shining as brightly as the sun, his clothes
tuning as bright as light itself.
