Trust
The person who say, "Trust me!" is the very person we suspect we shouldn't trust, right? No wonder it's hard to trust God when we've been burned so many times by people. Yet, God alone is completely trustworthy. Anything else in which we trust will fall: people, position, money, ourselves. The Israelites repeatedly turned to other nations for support, even though God had told them to trust in him rather than military might. He wanted his people to know that he-nothing or no one else-had delivered them from their enemies.

We, too, need to trust God. We need to trust him to give us salvation (see Salvation), to provide for our needs, to be with us, to forgive our sins (see Forgiveness). He will follow through on every promise he has made.

Likewise, in our own lives, we need to prove we are trustworthy. When people can trust us to keep our word, to look out for their best interests, to do what is right, then we will be displaying Christ's character and the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

We can trust God. He is faithful even when we are not.
