Unity
When we want to accomplish something on a large scale, we band together
with other people who share our vision. The same thing applies to believers.
There are to be no lone rangers in the Christian faith. God designed us
to be part of a community. Each Christian possesses gifts that compliment
the gifts of other believers. We are far more effective in worship, ministry
and godly living when we combine our gifts for the single purpose of glorifying
God. When Christians work against one another, defeat is almost guaranteed.
The amazing truth is that when we put our faith in Jesus Christ,
we are united with God because his Spirit (see Holy Spirit) comes to live
in us. The apostle Paul used marriage (see Marriage) to illustrate
this concept: Christians are united with God, just as husbands and wives
are united in marriage.
We are to strive for unity with other believers.
