To read The Words on your handheld, you will need the free Palm Reader software. If it is installed, it will appear as one of the applications on the Home page.

NOTE: The following instructions are for the PC. The procedure may be slightly different if you have a MAC.

If the Palm Reader is not installed:

  1. With your computer, go to http://www.palm.com.
  2. Click on the “Software” link at the top of the page.
  3. Click on the “eBookstore – overview” link on the left side of the page.
  4. Click on the “Palm Reader Free Version” graphic on the left side of the page.
  5. In the “For your Handheld” section, click on the language of your choice.
  6. A window will appear. Select “Save this file to disk”.
  7. A “Save As” window will appear. Select a destination folder that you will remember. Make note of the file name. You will need it later. Do not change the file name.
  8. Click the “Save” button.
  9. It may take several minutes for the software to download.
  10. When the download is complete, open the Palm Desktop software on your computer.
  11. Click on the Install icon on the left side of the screen.
  12. Select “Add” in the window that appears then navigate to the file that you downloaded and select it. Click the “Open” button.
  13. Click on done. P
  14. Plug your Palm into its cradle and do a HotSync. The Palm Reader software will install.

To read The Words on your Handheld:

  1. Download The Words file to your computer by clicking on the language that you would like to read.
  2. A window will appear. Select “Save this file to disk”.
  3. A “Save As” window will appear. Select a destination folder that you will remember. Make note of the file name. You will need it later. Do not change the file name.
  4. Click the “Save” button.
  5. It should only take a few seconds for the file to download.
  6. When the download is complete, open the Palm Desktop software on your computer.
  7. Click on the Install icon on the left side of the screen.
  8. Select “Add” in the window that appears then navigate to the file that you downloaded and select it. Click the “Open” button.
  9. Click on done.
  10. Plug your Palm into its cradle and do a HotSync. The Palm Reader software will install The Words.
  11. To read, open the Palm Reader and use the “Book – Open” menu to select The Words.
