"Hope is a project. It is something we take on in this world and work at every day. But it is also a gift of the Holy Spirit. Sometimes it can
be hard work, but at the same time, it is a calling and a gift."
- Rakesh Joseph

The "Great Commission, it has been said, is great because it has the power to change anyone who takes it seriously. Jesus is calling his followers to get outside the four walls of the religious institutions of his time, and this message is even more relevant in today's world. It is a call, not to come inside and be blessed, but to get out there and bless others. It takes the emphasis off the "me and mine" and reworks it to "what can I do for others?"

The poor, as Jesus also said, "will be with you always." There are more of them, and more needs than any one organization or person can meet. But we can do what is in front of us, and do it with all of our heart and soul. When this happens, we are changed in the process. What we give comes back to us in ways we never would ask for or dream. Hope then, is a project. It is something we take on in this world and work at every day. But it is also a gift of the Holy Spirit. Sometimes it can be hard work, but at the same time, it is a calling and a gift."
